 Plans to join Philadelphia

The Scoop:The Nuggets picked up Jackson's $5.25 million player option at the end of June but flipped the veteran point guard to Charlotte for salary-dumping purposes. In Philadelphia, Jackson will join Kyle Lowry and Eric Gordon as veteran backcourt options behind Tyrese Maxey.

Waived by Charlotte

The Scoop: This was an expected move for the Hornets with Jackson looking to join a contender. Once Jackson clears waivers, he'll be free to sign with any team other than the Nuggets. The veteran is expected to have a sizable market after a strong 2023-24 season in Denver.

Dealt to Charlotte
Jackson, along with three second-round picks, was traded to the Hornets from the Nuggets on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

The Scoop: Denver is effectively salary-dumping the veteran guard to Charlotte to create financial flexibility. It's possible the Hornets will attempt to ship Jackson off elsewhere, though he would add a veteran presence to a team looking to transition from rebuilding to being competitive. If he remains with Charlotte, Jackson will compete for backup guard minutes.

Picks up player option
Jackson picked up his $5.25 million player option Monday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

The Scoop: Jackson is set to reprise his role as the primary backup point guard behind Jamal Murray for the upcoming season. Jackson was a reliable presence in the backcourt for Denver in 2023-24, posting averages of 10.2 points, 3.8 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 three-pointers across 82 appearances.

Good to go
Jackson (calf) is available for Sunday's Game 4 against Minnesota.

The Scoop: Jackson will overcome a second consecutive questionable tag to suit up for Sunday's matchup. Jackson has had a limited presence this series as he has battled injury, averaging just 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 10.7 minutes through three games.
