| The Magic waived Bacon on Sunday. The Scoop:For an Orlando team that lost several key players to injuries and 2020-21 and was one of the more active teams ahead of the trade deadline, Bacon was one of the few constants in the lineup. He appeared in all 72 of the Magic's games last season and started 50 of them, but he was one of the NBA's least-productive rotation players. Though he averaged double figures in scoring (10.9 points per game) for the first time in his career, he shot a dismal 40.2 percent from the field and 28.5 percent from three-point range. He also did little to supplement the offense, averaging only 3.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks across 25.7 minutes per contest. Bacon should find work elsewhere around the NBA, but his underwhelming resume through four years in the league means he may have to settle for a minimum deal in free agency. | Dwayne Bacon: Struggles from field in loss Bacon managed five points (2-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal in 19 minutes during Thursday's 116-93 loss to the Hawks. The Scoop: The 25-year-old has cooled down considerably, totaling just 10 total points over his last two games after averaging 19.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals over his first five games in the month of May. Despite his recent rough stretch, Bacon is averaging career highs in points, rebounds, and three-pointers through 70 games this season. | Dwayne Bacon: Cools off in Tuesday's loss Bacon managed just five points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal in 26 minutes during Tuesday's 114-102 loss to Milwaukee. The Scoop: Bacon, who had been cooking over the past few games, finally came back to earth in the loss. This is more like the kind of production we are used to seeing from Bacon, and so it would not be at all surprising to see him continue down this path. The Scoop: Bacon connected on 58.3 percent of his shots while the rest of the starters shot a combined 28.9 percent. Bacon has scored in double figures in four of five games this month with three 20-point performances.
