Days won't play in Friday's preseason finale against the Heat due to a sprained right ankle, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Scoop:Per Feigen, Days left Wednesday's exhibition during the final minute after suffering the injury. The second-year big man is under a two-way contract, so when healthy, he'll likely report to the Rockets' G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Darius Days: Back in action in Las Vegas
Days (illness) has played in both of the Rockets’ last two Las Vegas Summer League games Sunday and Tuesday, logging 31 minutes between the contests while tallying 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt), eight rebounds and one steal.

The Scoop: After missing Friday's 100-99 win over the Trail Blazers, Days came off the bench for Sunday's 113-101 win over the Pistons before moving into the starting five for Tuesday's 105-92 victory over the Thunder. He played the fewest minutes of any starter Tuesday and looks as though he's being brought along slowly in his return from a non-COVID-19-related illness.

Out with non-COVID illness
Days has been ruled out for Friday's Summer League game versus the Trail Blazers due to a non-COVID illness, Jackson Gatlin of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

The Scoop: Days will miss the Rockets' first Summer League game. He'll look to clear the aliment in time for Sunday's matchup against the Pistons in Las Vegas.

Remains in Houston

Darius Days: Struggles in pros
Days concluded his rookie campaign with averages of 3.8 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.3 blocks in 6.3 minutes per game across four contests.

The Scoop: Days was a February depth piece with a few starters and rotation pieces banged up, but he wasn't able to make his way into the rotation at any other point during the 2022-23 campaign. The LSU product impressed in the G League this season, averaging 24.4 points and 9.8 rebounds, but it will be difficult for him to carve out a significant role with the Rockets, who have a solid young frontcourt duo in Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith.
