According to the Akron Beacon Journal, Larry Sanders was arrested last year on a felony charge in Los Angeles.

The Scoop:The ABJ reports: "According to Los Angeles Sherriff's Department jail records, Sanders was arrested on June 12 and booked into the Van Nuys jail. His bail was set at $50,000." Well, this helps shed light as to why Sanders has not been able to secure even a 10-day contract after trying out for numerous teams. Ever the enigma, Larry Sanders entered the league with length, athleticism and a wiry frame to boot. Play his career over 10 times, and while I don’t know what the most common outcome would be, it feels like the current reality was probably pretty. After a heartwarming debut with the Cavaliers, they cut Larry Sanders only a month into his tenure. Why? Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, via Jack Maloney of CBSSports.com: Now Sanders is gone again after he struggled keeping up with responsibilities on and off the court. He missed the team bus from the hotel to the airport Tuesday in Miami, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told The Athletic, the final blow to his time here after Sanders had previously struggled with punctuality. “He didn’t have any kind of a setback relative to any of the demons he had or any of those things,” Cavs general manager David Griffin said. “He’s an NBA player. He’s kind of flaky. So sometimes you’re late.

On the eve of the NBA playoffs, the Cavaliers added a new player and one they know very well. The defending champions signed guard Dahntay Jones and 7-foot-3 center Edy Tavares on Wednesday, just hours before the finale of a regular-season that has had more than its share of twists and turns. To open a roster spot, the team waived center Larry Sanders, who was signed after Andrew Bogut broke his leg but was barely used by coach Tyronn Lue and spent his time with the Cavs shuffling between Cleveland and the club's D-League affiliate in Canton.

The Cavaliers have waived center Larry Sanders as they finalize their playoff roster. The Cavaliers needed a big man after Andrew Bogut broke his right leg just 52 seconds into his debut with Cleveland, but the Cavs barely used Sanders, who played in five games for the defending champions. With their roster at 13, the Cavs are expected to sign 7-foot-3 center Edy Tavares.
