Kevin Martin announced his NBA retirement in an advertisement.

Zanesville Time Recorder

The Scoop:He didn't have the prettiest jumper, but Martin was adept at getting to the line in his 12-year career. His best run was from 2007-2009 with the Kings with 24 points per game in both seasons. Martin was very injury prone in his career, playing more than 73 games in just three seasons. He also announced the Kevin Martin Youth Foundation will be donating $100,000 to enhance the talents of our young children, on and off the sporting fields, in the Zanesville, Ohio and surrounding area.

The Sacramento Kings have had more ups than downs over their history, but the team has had some special players wear its jerseys. NBA commissioner David Stern – acting as New Orleans’ owner representative, he says – infamously vetoed a potential Chris Paul-to-Lakers trade in 2011. The New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans and not be confused with the current Charlotte Hornets), Lakers and Rockets tried to rework the three-team trade that would’ve sent Paul to the Lakers, Pau Gasol to Houston and Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic and a first-round pick to New Orleans.

Kevin Martin has retired. One of the best players of his generation to never make an All-Star team, Martin lasted in the NBA for 12 seasons due to his rarely erring jump shot, and ability to score in myriad ways despite the unorthodox form of that particular jumper. Averaging 17.4 points per game in just 30 minutes a contest for the Sacramento Kings among four others, Martin last played during the 2016 playoffs for the San Antonio Spurs.
