Cannady closed with four points (1-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals over 30 minutes during Sunday's 118-88 loss to the Knicks.

The Scoop:After seeing 29 minutes of action against Toronto on Friday, Cannady had a similarly extended leash Sunday -- due in part to the fact that Cole Anthony (toe) departed the game early in the first quarter and did not return. While Cannady had a fairly disastrous game on the offensive end, the recent 10-day signee could get some looks over the Magic's final three games of the regular season. That will be especially true if Anthony misses any additional time.

Devin Cannady: Scores game-high 29
Cannady posted 29 points (9-16 FG, 8-13 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three assists, one rebound, one steal and one block in 34 minutes during Tuesday's 140-136 loss to the College Park Skyhawks.

The Scoop: Cannady exploded for his first 20-plus point outing since March 8 and his fourth of the season. Across 16 appearances with Lakeland, the 25-year-old is averaging 15.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 26.5 minutes per game.

Devin Cannady: Surgery on ankle completed
Cannady underwent surgery Monday to clean out his dislocated and severely sprained right ankle, but a follow-up X-ray, MRI and CT scan didn't reveal any broken bones or ligament tears, the Associated Press reports.

The Scoop: The rookie will end up missing the rest of the season, but Monday still brought some good news for Cannady, who was initially diagnosed with an open fracture of the ankle when he was stretchered off the court in Sunday's loss to the Pacers with the injury. Though Cannady will still presumably require multiple months to recover from surgery, he at least looks to have a chance at being ready for the start of the 2021-22 season. Cannady was playing the 2020-21 season on an expiring two-way deal, so the Magic will have to decide in the offseason whether to renew his contract or allow him to enter free agency.

Devin Cannady: Diagnosed with fractured ankle
Cannady was diagnosed with an open fracture in his right ankle after exiting Sunday's 131-112 loss to the Pacers. He'll require season-ending surgery to address the injury.

The Scoop: Cannady was stretchered off the court late in the first quarter with what was clearly a serious lower-leg injury. An X-ray confirmed that Cannady sustained an open fracture, an injury that will likely result in a longer recovery timeline than a broken ankle would normally sideline a payer. The two-way player appeared in eight games for the Magic after making his NBA debut on April 7, finishing the season with averages of 4.3 points and 0.8 three-pointers in 9.3 minutes per contest. His availability for the start of the 2021-22 season will be in doubt as a result of the injury, but the Magic aren't likely to provide a firm timeline until his procedure is completed.

Devin Cannady: Stretchered off court
Cannady was stretchered off the court with a lower right leg injury in Sunday's game against the Pacers, Roy Parry of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The Scoop: Cannady went up to contest a shot in the first quarter of Sunday's matchup and appeared to be in considerable pain after landing awkwardly on his leg. It's not yet clear when Cannady could return to the court.
