The Scoop:Chandler could probably be had if OKC can put together the right package, and they could sign the recently waived Williams, or sign Smith away from his CBA team, but a Melo deal coming to fruition seems insanely unlikely. Five years ago today, role players Josh Smith and Corey Brewer helped lead one of the most stunning comebacks in NBA playoff history. It all led to the Rockets staving off elimination in Game 6 versus the Los Angeles Clippers with a 119-107 road victory (box score) on May 14, 2015. Houston trailed by 19 points late in the third quarter and by 12 points with less than eight minutes left in the fourth — all on the road in front of a hostile environment at Staples Center.

Down 12 with less than eight minutes to play, the Rockets' outlook was bleak, especially against Los Angeles' Big 3 of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Josh Smith wasn't worried.

No player symbolizes Joe Dumars’ career as a basketball executive more than Josh Smith. Smith figured prominently into Dumars’ greatest triumph, the 2004 NBA Championship, and was also the centerpiece free agent acquisition in the supersized with super-limited range lineup experiment that proved to be Dumars’ final ignoble act running the Detroit Pistons.
