Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admits the team needs some more veteran players on the roster. Once the 2020 free agency period starts, Kerr is hopeful the Dubs can sign some veteran guys, similar to how Golden State added Zaza Pachulia and David West in the past. We’d like to add a veteran or two in free agency, but I don’t even know if that’s possible,” Kerr told Anthony Slater of The Athletic when asked about the Warriors’ youth-laden roster in the 2019-20 season.

In 518 NBA games with the Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers, Leonard has career averages of 18.6 points, 6.4 boards and 2.7 assists. His stat line and total numbers would be a lot better, though, if injuries didn’t ruin his 2017-18 campaign with the Spurs. During Game 1 of the 2017 Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, Dubs big man Zaza Pachulia hurt Leonard’s ankle.

It was a bit of a rollercoaster getting there, but our first poll rung true in the end with Zaza Pachulia voted off as 8th among all our qualified candidates for the best Milwaukee Bucks contracts of the last decade. I’m not all that surprised to see the Georgian giant get voted off first, but one of the reasons I thought he merited inclusion was the wealth of distaste for his contract initially.

Golden State would need Gasol to be willing to take less, just as David West and Zaza Pachulia did several years ago to join the Warriors. It’s not crazy to believe that Gasol, who has made more than $178 million over his 11-year NBA career, would be OK taking a pay cut to be part of a system that perfectly suits his strengths. A gifted 3-point shooter who also excels as a passer, Gasol would thrive as a fulcrum in the Warriors’ up-tempo offense.
