Brown -- along with David Nwaba, Trey Burke and Marquese Chriss -- was traded from the Rockets to the Thunder on Thursday in exchange for Derrick Favors, Ty Jerome, Maurice Harkless, Theo Maledon and a 2025 second-round pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

The Scoop:Brown was acquired by the Rockets from the Mavericks via trade in June, but he'll now join the Thunder as a depth piece ahead of the 2022-23 season. In 49 games with Dallas last season, Brown averaged 3.3 points and 3.0 rebounds across 12.8 minutes per contest.

Sterling Brown: Traded to Rockets
Brown was traded to the Rockets from the Mavericks on Wednesday, along with Boban Marjanovic, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss and the No. 26 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, in exchange for Christian Wood, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The Scoop: Brown will head to Houston for the 2022-23 season after the Mavs agreed to trade four players and a first-round pick in order to acquire Wood. The 26-year-old Brown wasn't part of Dallas' playoff rotation down the stretch, but he could see additional opportunities for playing time with Houston as part of its rebuild. In 49 games this season, he averaged 3.3 points and 3.0 rebounds across 12.8 minutes per contest.

Sterling Brown: Off injury report
Brown (illness) is off the injury report for Saturday's Game 1 against the Jazz.

The Scoop: Brown's role has fluctuated throughout the season, though it's been minimal since February. That said, he could see a boost in workload while Luka Doncic (calf) remains shelved.

Sterling Brown: Out due to illness
Brown won't play Sunday against the Spurs due to a non-COVID illness.

The Scoop: Brown made his first appearance Friday since March 23, but the fifth-year forward will be sidelined again Sunday. His status for the Mavericks' first-round playoff matchup remains unclear.

Sterling Brown: Returns to action Friday
Brown (personal) recorded seven points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt), four rebounds and one steal over 15 minutes during Friday's 128-78 win over the Trail Blazers.

The Scoop: Brown made his first appearance since March 23 and provided solid production during the blowout win. Friday marked just the fifth time the reserve forward has played double-digit minutes since Jan. 9, so it's unclear what his role will be during the Mavericks' playoff run.
