Reaches open market The Scoop:Dowtin joined the 76ers last March on a two-way deal before being converted to a standard NBA contract in April, which made him eligible for the playoffs. He went on to appear in 12 games with the 76ers -- all in the regular season -- and averaged 4.3 points, 2.3 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 11.8 minutes per contest. Though he's no longer under contract for the 76ers, the 27-year-old guard will be part of the organization's Summer League roster. Jul 7 8:19 ET - | ||||||||
Contract converted to standard deal The 76ers converted Dowtin's two-way contract to a standard deal Thursday. The Scoop: Dowtin has been playing for the G League's Delaware Blue Coats this year and signed a two-way deal with the team in early March. He impressed for the G League club and will be rewarded with a standard contract late in the regular season. Apr 5 4:42 ET |
Top scorer in all-around outing Top scorer in all-around outing The Scoop: Dowtin led all players in Thursday's postseason loss in scoring, threes made and steals while handing out a team-high assist total and ending two assists and three rebounds shy of a triple-double. Dowtin appeared in 20 G League games this season, averaging 19.1 points, 5.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals over 32.4 minutes per contest. Apr 4 10:23 ET |
Efficient in win Efficient in win The Scoop: In the Blue Coats' first playoff contest, Dowtin led the team in assists and surrendered just one turnover. Coming into Tuesday's win, Dowtin was averaging 19.1 points, 5.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 32.4 minutes across 20 appearances in the G League this season. Apr 2 10:08 ET |
Leads team in assists Wednesday Dowtin amassed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), six assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block over 24 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 115-109 loss to the Grizzlies. The Scoop: Playing his second NBA game of the season, Dowtin was pushed into a much larger role than expected with Tyrese Maxey (concussion), Kyle Lowry (rest) and De'Anthony Melton (back) all missing from the Sixers' backcourt. The 26-year-old journeyman responded by leading the team in assists and tying for the team lead in steals while chipping in a little offense of his own. Lowry could be back in the lineup as soon as Friday against the Pelicans, but Dowtin's performance might have been good enough for him to hang onto a spot in the regular rotation in the short term.
