Rockets general manager Rafael Stone said Tuesday that Eason (lower leg) is on track to be available for training camp, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston.

The Scoop:Eason underwent surgery in March to treat a benign growth in his lower leg but is expected to make a full recovery by the time training camp rolls around in the fall. In 22 appearances last season, Eason averaged 9.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 21.8 minutes. The 22-year-old is a versatile prospect on both ends of the floor, but with other young options in the frontcourt such as Jabari Smith, Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore, Eason may struggle to win playing time.

Undergoes successful surgery
The Rockets announced Tuesday that Eason underwent successful surgery to treat a benign growth in his lower leg. He's expected to make a full recovery in approximately four months.

The Scoop: As expected, Eason will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery, but he should be back to full strength this summer and will likely be available for training camp in the fall. The No. 17 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft finishes his second season in the NBA with averages of 9.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks in 21.8 minutes per game, numbers that are nearly identical to his averages as a rookie. Eason is a promising young player, but the Rockets also have Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith, Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore as ascending frontcourt options, which puts a ceiling on Eason's fantasy value heading into 2024-25.

Out for season
Rockets coach Ime Udoka announced Saturday that Eason will undergo season-ending surgery on his left leg, according to Houston sideline reporter Vanessa Richardson.

The Scoop: Eason had a benign growth on his lower leg bone that flared up after a contact injury. Eason has a timetable of four months, so while he's out for the remainder of the season, he should be ready in advance of the 2024-25 season. He'll finish the campaign with averages of 9.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 steals.

Without return timeline
Coach Ime Udoka said Sunday that Eason (lower leg) still doesn't have a clear return timetable, Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports.

The Scoop: Eason hasn't played since Jan. 1 and will likely remain out for at least a few more weeks, if not the entire season. Udoka added that Eason and the Rockets are getting multiple opinions on the injury before deciding what's next in Eason's rehab.

Ruled out for Sunday
Eason (lower leg) is out for Sunday's game against the Thunder.

The Scoop: Eason hasn't played since Jan. 1 due to a left lower leg injury and will likely be eased back into action with a light role whenever he's formally cleared to suit up. His next chance to play will come in a rematch against Oklahoma City on Feb. 27.
